Water Pumping

Photovoltaic cells are ideal for the production of electricity on farms where there is no connection to the grid.

PV systems are installed to support applications such as :

• Lighting

• Water pumping

• Greenhouse heating

In case of water pumping, the produced electric energy supplies an electric motor which is converted into mechanical energy for pumping water. Variations of solar radiation only affect the mechanical energy given by the pump and eventually the water supply. In a real application, water is stored in a tank for use during periods of no sunshine. The tank somehow performs the role of the battery.

The pump generator works with DC (direct current) so that it is not essential to use inverter from direct to alternating current.
